Luke 17:21b: “…the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
Luke 3:5: “Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low.”
When King Jesus came, people expected someone who would overthrow the empire. Instead, Jesus showed them what the Kingdom of God was like - he ate with people, spent time with outsiders, released people from what was oppressing them, called out the rich, and welcomed children - among many other unexpected things. Instead of creating another empire, Jesus calls us to humility. Together we are going to study the simple kingdom of God practices and teachings of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke on our journey to being formed more and more like King Jesus.
